Lefse

Left-over potatoes turned in to delicious lefse this morning.  Megan has become an expert "roller" and Hannah manages the grill like a pro.  So fun to have my girls making yummy Norwegian treats for us!   Can't think of many foods better than lefse hot from the grill dripping with butter and brown sugar.
The little girls got tired of watching in the kitchen, so they set up their own lefse production downstairs. Della put Rachel to work as the "roller" while she managed the stick and grill.  It won't be too long before these two will take over the real kitchen!

Tuesday

An afternoon in the woods is good for everyone.
We gathered firewood in preparation for the spring syrup season.
Luke looked for dragons and goblins (we're reading the Hobbit right now).

Caramel apples for dessert tonight... Hans was happy to chew the sticky stick.

A day with grandpa and grandma

We spent Friday with grandpa and grandma - making memories, pies, cookies...playing trains, raking leaves and being loved.  Good times!

Beautiful bike ride

We headed north this afternoon for a bike ride along the shore.  The colors were beautiful and the kids were happy to have a "family field trip" and get some exercise outside.  Love this time of year!!

Science with Dad

The kids had a great morning dissecting a deer kidney and learning about the amazing human body.

Fall Beauty

At the request of grandpa and grandma, we're posting a few more photos of the crew in action.  Hans helped us unload the groceries by dumping the apples and tasting them.  He doesn't have any teeth, so the apples we unharmed.  He's starting to scoot all over the place on his belly...
All that work really wears a little guy out.  This is what happens when we're cleaning up after lunch and he needs to catch  up on his sleep.
Lars learned to pump the swing himself this week.  So much fun!

What an awesome day to soak in the sunshine and color.  Days like these make me so aware of God's creative beauty and the blessings all around me.

Rachel Lynn

Sweet Rachel Lynn turned 3 a few weeks ago.  I just love this picture of her... it captures her smile and the ever-present "baby doll".  Hannah snapped this photo yesterday afternoon while we were out playing in the leaves.  Rachel spends her days playing mommy and this little doll never leaves her side.
Rachel asked us to make her a "pink chocolate cake" for her birthday.  We stirred raspberries into the topping and had a delicious, gooey chocolate cake to share with our cousins.

 yumm!
